The murals in the lower church of St. Konrad in Hohenems, in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg, were painted between 1980 and 1983. Temporarily forgotten, this monumental work by the artist Heilgard Bertel was awakened from its slumber and made accessible to the public on the occasion of the 50th anniversary celebrations of St. Konrad’s Church. The new revised edition of the publication of the same name (2011 Bucher Verlag Hohenems) was produced, supplemented by a volume with additions to the text by Veronica Gradl and a leporello depicting the complete views of both walls.
